Koichi KayKay Shimizu
KayKay is an imaginative hair stylist and image-maker, contributing to editorial shoots for a range of artistry and style from street to luxury.
He was trained under the world’s foremost hair stylist - Peter Gray.
KayKay is also in support of environmental sustainability, and fluent in English and Japanese.
In the mid-1990s, KayKay moved to Seattle, USA. He spent his puberty and graduated from high school and college in Seattle. Following his graduation, he moved to London, UK.
In the mid-2000s, KayKay was trained at Vidal Sasson Academy London and his career in hair was started at Windle & Moodie in London, where he moved from the United States.
KayKay worked as an assistant to International Editorial Hair Stylist - Peter Gray.
He worked with Peter Gray on over 100 of collections (Fashion Week in Paris, Milan, London and New York), advertising campaigns, celebrities, videos, hair shows, seminars and a huge number of editorials and fashion shoots such as Vogue (Italia, US, Paris, British, Russia, China, Japan, etc.), Numero, V Magazine, Harper's Bazzar, POP Magazine, Interview Magazine, Another Magazine, i-D, Dazed and Confused Magazine and more.
In mid-2011, KayKay moved to New York, USA. He worked as a freelance Hair Stylist for about 3 years doing editorial shoots, runway shows and projects.
In late 2014, KayKay decided to return to Tokyo, where he was born.
He worked at a couple of hair salons in Tokyo, which developed a client base with everyone from everyday hairstyles to high-end and luxury hairstyles.
He was awarded 2nd place in Shu Uemura Art of Hair - Gallery of Style Japan 2018.
KayKay now starts a new venture into setting up a salon in Tokyo.
